The son of 2003 Belmont Stakes winner Empire Maker, Eight Rings broke his maiden at first asking last summer at Del Mar before scoring an emphatic win at Santa Anita in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes. He made his final start as a 2-year-old with a sixth-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Futurity. Unraced since that time, the Kentucky-bred appears on course for his return based on his recent worktab at Santa Anita. Empire Maker earned nearly $2 million on the racetrack, winning four times from eight starts. Among his leading progeny are Royal Delta, an earner of more than $4.8 million and 3-time Eclipse Award winner, as well as Pioneerof the Nile, runner-up in the 2009 Kentucky Derby and earner of more than $1.6 million.
