The Kentucky-bred son of Tapit needed four tries to break his maiden, getting his first career win last December at Aqueduct. He made his first start with winners in the Grade 3 Withers Stakes at Aqueduct, finishing third and beaten nearly four lengths. Pletcher took top honors in last year's Sunland Derby (Gr. III) with Cutting Humor and has won nearly 4900 races in a career that spans nearly a quarter-century. A seven-time winner of the Eclipse Award for leading trainer, Pletcher's runners have earned more than $388 million, including Kentucky Derby wins in 2010 with Super Saver and in 2017 with Always Dreaming. Tapit enjoyed success on the track, winning the 2004 Wood Memorial, and off the track, producing such stars as Tacitus, winner of the 2019 Wood Memorial as well as 2016 Metropolitan Mile and Whitney Handicap winner Frosted.
